Melisa Cano began her piano studies at the “Ataulfo Argenta Conservatory” at the age of seven (Santander). From 2012 to 2014, she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance with Roberto Méndez at the “Eduardo Martínez Torner Higher Conservatory of Music” (Oviedo). During this period, she also studied privately with Olga Semushina, the pianist of the “Principado de Asturias Philharmonic Orquestra”.

 

During the academic year 2012-13, she participated in the Erasmus student exchange programme at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland; her piano teacher was Valeria Resjan. In 2014, she started the piano pedagogy studies at this university as a degree-seeking student with the same teacher. She has also played the trumpet and the harpsichord as minor instruments throughout her studies at Metropolia University.  She finished her Bachelor's Degree in Culture and Arts, Degree Programme in Classical Music Pedagogy in May, 2017.

 

Since 2013, she has been teaching piano privately and in different music schools. Also, in 2011, she volunteered at the “Educamusi Work Camp" (Ceuta, Spain). The main theme of this camp was music as a resource for “communication, participation and socialization” in groups of children and teenagers at risk of social exclusion.

 

In addition to the teaching background, she has also gained experience in the arts management field through the "Erasmus work experience programme", working as an intern at the "Café de las Artes Teatro" in 2015 (Santander, Spain). After the internship, she has continued collaborating with this theater. Besides, in 2016, she has been part of the working group of the Cinemaissí Festival, the Latin American Film Festival held annually in Helsinki.
